The institution ‘Dinakrushna College’ evolved its nomenclature in a centripetal motion from its surrounding of northern greenery and rural setting of Balasore district from an up gradation of, North Balasore College. One of the oldest and largest college of non Government organization and being a premier institution of this costal belt, it has been imparting its best knowledge since 1964. Formerly it was affiliated to Utkal University, Vanivihar, BBSR. But subsequently it became affiliated to Fakir Mohan University, Balasore and accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ Grade in 2006.
The Crest consists of the design of a wheel with an open book and a lamp with a flame at the centre. The motto inscribes on its bed is the famous Upanishad prayer: “Tume Hi Maa Joytirgamaya” that means “Lead me from darkness to illumination”.
Apart from kneeing the general design of the Crest, the wheel symbolizes the eternal cycle of life and time. The small circle within a big one containing an open book in between “Krishna” the incarnation of God and the burning lamp symbolizes knowledge, Wisdom and perfection move through the amalgamation of big and small, knowledge, power, the divine and the mundane.
The Society was started in 1964 with view to arranging debates, reading papers, matters of historical importants and going to places of historical interest.
